Wild Ginger Falls B&B Vacation Rental Cottage is very private
and tucked away in Upcountry Maui, yet it is centrally
located
and just a short distance to the following places:
Makawao
Town
This former cowboy town
is just a 5 minute drive from the cottage and is a wonderful
place to park and walk around. There are boutiques,
coffee shops, sushi, delis, galleries, restaurants,
gas station, a small general
store - and no stop lights.
Hui Noeau Visual Arts Center
On the way to Makawao, the
visual arts center offers studio space, classes and workshops
in ceramics, photography, jewelry, painting,
woodworking and other media. There is always a great exhibit
going on in the gallery which is free and open to the
public.
Baldwin Beach
1/2 mile whitesand beach just West of Paia Town. Great beach to swim, jog, snorkel or hang out under the ironwood trees. The long, shallow pool at the West end of the beach is known as "Baby Beach." Separated from the surf by a flat reef wall, this is where ocean-loving families bring their kids to swim and frolic.
Hookipa
Beach
World famous center of windsurfing
and kite-boarding, this beach is also good for surfing
and body boarding on days when the wind is calm. Even
if you are not a professional, it is fun to at least watch
the incredible stunts.
Paia
Town
This fun but small "surfer" town is a haven for those seeking exotic, but casual restaurants, shops, galleries, surf shops, gas station and the memorable health food store, Mana Foods. There is also a very long secluded white sand beach, Paia Bay, for sunning, swimming and snorkeling.
Haleakala
National Park
The Haleakala National Park
ranges through 5 distinctly different climatic zones. The
dormant volcano's
vast moonlike crater floor with its towering cindercones
is a geological wonder. The park was designated
an International Biosphere Reserve in 1980. Of its 28,655
acres, 19,270 are wilderness. From the 10,023 foot summit,
the Big Island
of Hawaii can be seen.
